When this ends, and I know this will, like everything else in this world and history of human, I know I will still remember all the small things about you.
I know I'll still know your brand of perfume and the way it smells most intoxicating below your ear. I know I'll still remember the way you taste like in my mouth; like hunger kept too long and desire kept in shadows given light for the first time. I know I'll still remember that you like old things better than new things and that you could talk for hours about what you think and what you believe while holding my hand with your thumb on my bruised knuckles.
I know I'll still remember every word of encouragement you give me when I let myself slip and give into my grief and fear. I know I'll still hope for your embrace sometimes, just like I do right now, and that's perfectly fine.
I'm glad, really glad, that I have you now, in a way or another. I'm glad I'm a significant person in your life. And I'm glad that, when all of this, all of the things that holding us together, inevitably comes apart, your name will still taste sweet like honey on my tongue. You will always be a good memory.
